A Forever Recovery Graduate: Jeff

A Forever Recovery graduate Jeff. One aspect of A Forever Recovery’s program commented on by those who have graduated from it is the openness regarding faith.

Five different tracks are offered to clients, some of which include secular practices, Christ-centered practices, and Buddhist practices.

What works so well for the clients at A Forever Recovery, though, is the fact that they don’t have to choose just one.

Jeff Shares His Feelings About the Program

It had a particular impact on Jeff, who graduated from the program on August 15.

“Like most of you guys,” he said to his fellow graduates and clients, “Jesus Christ has been a big part of my life.”

“But, I also went to temple a lot while I was here and Buddhist teachings were a big part of my life. So this is a message – a little consolidation – between the two.”

Jeff went on to talk about the parallels between Christ’s teachings and Buddhist teachings.

“I’ve come to the realization that how spiritual you are has nothing to do with what you believe, but has everything to do with your state of consciousness,” he said. “This, in turn, determines how you act in the world and interact with others.”

Another Graduate – John, Shares His Story

As another graduate, John, said in his testimony on the same day, “I had never been to a place that they would allow you to spread your faith – whatever it is.”

“That’s the main thing that brought me back because … different places want you to put (what you believe in) under the rug.”

Exploring New Methods of Healing

While others who graduate the program choose a completely secular path, Jeff and John had impactful experiences because they were able to embrace their faith – and it should be noted that their faiths were contradictory to one another.

“For instance, if you fall in the teachings of the Buddha, who inhabit an iron-age world, or worship Jesus Christ, who lived in the high of the Roman Empire, it makes very little difference,” said Jeff.

Here is a client who retained his core faith, but found the ability to explore new methods of healing through the classes and teachings provided at A Forever Recovery.

“I’m a different person now,” he said. “Pam (Anderson), thank you for your program. It’s changed me. I appreciate it.”
