Why Addicts Should Have a Say in Their Personalized Treatment Plans

Today, addiction programs offer addicts an opportunity to create personalized treatment plans.  In a nation that is currently struggling with its worst ever drug and alcohol addiction crisis, a lot of people are wondering how to address it effectively. In 2010, President Barack Obama announced that substance abuse was in the top ten most concerning crisis issues of the nation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated recently that addiction has reached epidemic proportions.  Also, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) stated in 2013 that the demand for addiction treatment is at an all-time high.

Substance abuse takes a major toll on all who become involved with it.  One out of three Americans is somehow connected to an addict, and one out of six Americans actually has an addict within their family. So, it is not just the addicts themselves who feel the hurt of addiction. It goes much deeper than that.

Substance abuse has peaked to record-breaking numbers in the nation with more than twenty-five million Americans currently addicted. It gets worse though. According to SAMHSA, only about four or five-hundred thousand get rehabilitated every year, yet close to a million become addicted every year. The problem is getting worse, not better. As if that wasn’t bad enough, about eighty to a hundred thousand Americans lose their lives because of substance abuse.

With addiction causing this much havoc across the nation, tens of millions of Americans are searching for answers and solutions. The clearest method of addressing addiction is with residential addiction treatment centers. These are by far the most beneficial of all of the approaches to addiction treatment.

Why Personalized Treatment Plans Succeed

Drug and alcohol addiction has now become so prevalent that the need for addiction rehab has never been greater. And not just any addiction rehab either. Specifically, an inpatient rehab program has proven to be the most effective.

Inpatient drug and alcohol addiction rehab centers have been around since the 1920s. For almost a century we have known that the best way to overcome addiction is with a rehabilitation program. A crisis like a drug or alcohol addiction is not something that can be dealt with alone.

However, there is one key aspect of addiction treatment that has gone unaddressed.  At least, not until very recently. For decades, inpatient rehab centers only utilized a singular approach, meaning they only offered one method or technique for helping addicts beat addiction. This was usually a twelve step program.  Now, with such a huge number of people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol, rehab centers have started offering more personalized, malleable programs. Rehab centers have expanded their services to give addicts a choice on what types of services they receive.

Personalized Rehab Excels Over Traditional Treatment

Why the need for personalized treatment plans? Essentially, addicts are still individuals even if they seem to be glommed into a standard demographic of addicted persons. Different treatment methods will work for different people, and some rehab methods will not work for some people. This is exactly why personalized rehab excels over traditional rehab in terms of quality of approach and overall success rates.

Personalized addiction treatment is key for triumphing against addiction. With personalized treatment plans, anyone who is addicted to anything can finally experience the perfect program for them and become free from addiction.
